Baby's first pancake day

Pancake day, or Shrove Tuesday, takes place exactly 47 days before Easter and traditionally is meant to be a time to use up rich foods likes sugar and butter. It’s a great day to have fun with your little one as pancakes can be sweet or savoury and are simple to make. A great family recipe to have up your sleeve!

Are pancakes healthy for babies?

Pancakes can be as healthy as you need them to be. If this is your baby’s first attempt at a pancake it can be a simple, thin pancake with their favourite fruit as a filling served for breakfast. They are also great for baby-led weaning as they can make good finger food. Wash them down with a few sips of water from your Babycup Sippeco First Cup.

There are lots of alternative recipes for pancakes so you can make them vegan or gluten free. Here’s our favourite recipes to try. This is a Babycup secret family recipe which never fails! Enjoy.

Easy pancake recipe

Ingredients

4oz Plain flour

2 eggs

200ml milk

75ml water

Butter to grease the pan

Measure out the flour and create a well in the centre. Crack the 2 eggs into the well and begin to whisk, slowly incorporating the flour. Measure out the milk and add the water to the milk. Slowly tip the liquid into the flour and eggs, mixing until everything is incorporated and you have a smooth batter.

Put you flying pan on a high heat and wait until it gets to temperature. Add a little butter to grease so the batter doesn’t stick. Pour in the batter and flip to the other side when golden brown.

Add your favourite filling. Ours is chopped bananas, strawberries and Greek yoghurt
